Full Job Description

The James Cook University Hospital (JCUH) Radiotherapy department is a forward-thinking department equipped with 4 Elekta Agility and 2 Elekta EVO Linacs. Featuring IRIS high-definition AI imaging and adaptive planning capability. Our service delivers advanced treatments including Symmetry 4D SABR, Cardiac SABR and DIBH further enhanced by 3 Catalyst HD C-Rad SGRT devices. A new WOmed T-200 superficial unit is also due to be installed early 2027. Pre-treatment imaging consists of two Siemens wide-bore CT scanners with Prosoma software and an active brachytherapy service using Nucletron remote after-loading. We utilise Monaco and Raystation for treatment planning, with Mosaiq managing electronic data transfer throughout the department. Beyond technology, we are committed to our people. Our Radiographers are fully involved in, The Clinical Specialist Lead Radiographer will provide expert clinical leadership within radiotherapy, with a focus on operational oversight, image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), and complex decision-making. The post holder will lead on acute operational needs, emergency treatment allocation, image review, and staff support to ensure safe, effective, and timely delivery of radiotherapy.

The role will contribute to service capacity management, multidisciplinary working, quality assurance, and workforce development by identifying trends, leading audits, and supporting training and peer review activities.

the MDT approach to developments within department and we actively support clinical development from entry-level to Advanced Practitioner. The department has a major commitment to evidence based practice, and participates in multi-centre clinical research trials, led by our Radiotherapy Research Team.
