Clinical Service Manager

Due to the scale and complexity of the transition to the new Velindre Cancer Centre (nVCC), an exciting and unique opportunity has arisen to join Velindre Cancer Service (VCS) as a Clinical Service Manager, supporting the delivery of this transformational programme. This senior management role will lead a portfolio of clinical service readiness and mobilisation activity, ensuring services are prepared to safely and effectively transition into the new cancer centre in 2027. Working closely with clinical, nursing, operational and corporate colleagues, the post holder will support the development, implementation and assurance of service readiness plans, helping translate strategic objectives into practical and sustainable service solutions. The role will focus on coordinating complex service change across multiple clinical areas, ensuring that workforce, pathways, digital systems, equipment, operational processes and governance arrangements are aligned to support high-quality, patient-centred care. The post holder will provide expert advice, challenge and leadership to support successful delivery of one of the most significant developments in specialist cancer care in Wales., You will plan, coordinate and deliver operational readiness required for the move to the new Velindre Cancer Centre, including:

• Develop, implement and monitor service readiness plans, ensuring clear milestones, ownership and assurance arrangements are in place.
• Work collaboratively with clinical, nursing, operational and corporate teams to support the design and implementation of future service models and pathways.
• Support pathway review, redesign and testing to ensure services are ready to operate effectively within the new Velindre Cancer Centre.
• Lead multidisciplinary workstreams and task groups, ensuring delivery against agreed objectives and timescales.
• Identify, manage and escalate risks, issues and dependencies, supporting the development of effective mitigation plans.
• Support planning for dual running and service continuity, ensuring patient safety, quality and operational resilience are maintained throughout transition.
• Analyse and interpret complex activity, workforce, performance, quality and financial information to support decision-making and service planning.
• Develop business cases, option appraisals, reports and recommendations for senior leaders and governance groups.
• Support quality improvement, governance and assurance activities, ensuring readiness plans align with national standards and organisational requirements.
• Build effective relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
