Full Job Description

Duties and responsibilities: Clinical and Research The post holder will, together with colleagues, be responsible for the provision of neuro-ophthalmology research services to the Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust, and at additional study recruitment sites in London, via Honorary appointments at partner Trusts or the KHP Research Passport. Duties and responsibilities may include: a)Providing clinical support for neuro-ophthalmology research projects b)Contributing to the development overall of the research department & ophthalmology service c)Preparing research study standard operating procedures d)Coordinating and participating in patient and public involvement and engagement activities e)Coordinating and monitoring research study recruitment f)Liaising with research study participants in person, via email and via telephone, to address any queries or to provide support for study participation, e.g. administering questionnaires g)Arranging and supporting participant sample collection
(e.g. saliva) h) Electronic medical record and imaging review and retrospective data extraction, data entry into secure platform (e.g. Redcap), data review, data cleaning, data analysis i)Preparation of scientific/research data to be presented at internal and external meetings in relation to the programme of research where relevant j)Preparation, or contribution to the preparation of, manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals Training of junior and allied health professional staff: The postholder will take responsibility for the training and direction of junior staff and allied health professionals in the research team who are allocated to him/her under aegis of the training plan that that postholder has agreed with their supervising consultant. Teaching: The postholder will be expected to contribute as appropriate in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students, or clinical research staff. Clinical Governance: All medical and dental staff are expected to take part in
