Clinical Psychologist, Renal and Transplant Psychology Service

This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving department of Psychological Medicine in a large University Hospital NHS Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic and able individual to provide clinical input to the renal and transplant unit at the Churchill Hospital Oxford. The Renal and Transplant Clinical Psychology service supports patients experiencing end stage renal failure, living on dialysis, and moving towards and living with organ transplant. This includes kidney, pancreas and intestinal transplants.

Evidence-based psychological treatments such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Compassion-Focussed Therapy (CFT), and Acceptance-Based therapies (ACT) are integrated within the service, and we welcome anyone with skills across any of these models. You will be supervised and managed by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist within the renal and transplant psychology service. They have a special interest in ACT and other 3rd wave approaches, including Internal Family Systems, and supervision would therefore sit within these models. You will be involved in carrying out individual and joint assessments, and one-to-one psychological therapy. You would also be expected to develop skills in transplant assessments. Psychology is highly valued within the multidisciplinary teams and there is plenty of opportunity for you to develop your consultation, supervision, and teaching skills. Previous experience of working within a physical healthcare setting is desirable, and if not, we would want to see a strong interest in developing skills in this area. The service also covers 6 satellite units across the region (Milton Keynes, High Wycombe, Stoke Mandeville, Banbury, and Great Western Hospital) and hence a car would be preferable.,
