Clinical Psychologist or Counselling Psychologist

Job overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative and flexible Psychologist to join our Mental Health and Wellness Team psychology provision in the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham. The post holder will join a group of passionate psychologists who value diversity and inclusion. We are firm believers in the importance of co-designing and co-delivering with experts by experience, peer workers and partnering with third sector organisations. The team has a range of specialist interests, and experience in delivering a range of trauma specific therapies. We believe in the importance of richness in delivering secondary care services to effectively meet the needs of the population we serve, therefore integrated working with care co-ordinators from Barking and Dagenham Mental Health and Wellness Teams based at Barking Community Hospital is essential, and the post-holder will be required to work on site at least four days a week to facilitate this. We work in tandem with the
Community Psychology provision and view this as crucial in supporting the pathway and the people who need it to thrive. Trauma informed care is imperative not only for supporting people who use the services, but for the staff who work in them. We work closely with the Lead for Trauma Informed Care, and specialist trauma supervision has been set up for the pathway., Main duties of the job Assessment and Treatment Planning Provide specialist psychological assessments based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of highly complex, sensitive information. Undertake risk assessment and risk management for relevant individual clients and provide both general and specialist advice for professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management. To formulate evidence based treatment plans, based on sound and current theoretical knowledge and good practice. Make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about a range of treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group. To involve service users and their carers in planning and delivery of care. Interventions and Treatments To provide psychological intervention to service users experiencing complex and severe mental health
problems. To provide interventions in a manner that is consistent with evidence-based practice. Implement a range of highly specialist psychological interventions. To work jointly with MDT colleagues to deliver effective and individualised care and treatment.
