Full Job Description

We are looking for a compassionate trauma-informed psychologist who is interested in working within the area of acute mental healthcare. Our service at Parklands Hospital includes male and female wards, and a PICU. Your role will focus on clients referred to our Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams (based primarily in Basingstoke, as well as one base in Winchester), supervised by a CAT-trained consultant clinical psychologist.

You will join a sizeable diverse team of warm, supportive, and creative psychologists and assistant psychologists, who are committed to providing inclusive person-centred care, and a psychologically-minded multidisciplinary team committed to embedding a recovery culture. We work transdiagnostically with a range of presentations, including psychosis and trauma, and relational difficulties. You will provide psychological assessment and therapy individually and support group programmes, as well as offering advice, consultation and training to staff in the team. Our psychological provision includes offering the Comprehend, Cope & Connect (CCC) approach, alongside various evidence-based therapeutic approaches (e.g. CBT, DBT, ACT, CFT and CAT).

We encourage applicants seeking a preceptorship from Band 7 to 8a. We welcome applications from unqualified practitioners nearing completing their training. Please do reach out to discuss requests for part-time hours and flexible working options., You will work as an autonomous practitioner with your own clinical caseload, embedded within our clinical multi-professional team and the psychological therapies team. You will provide psychological assessments and formulations, brief interventions, provide supervision, provide advice to colleagues, and contribute to the implementation of the Comprehend, Cope and Connect (CCC) approach. CCC is a therapeutic intervention which enables multi-professional colleagues to offer psychologically-informed support to adults with acute mental health difficulties. Multi-disciplinary team formulations are part of this post, which supports and enhances a psychologically-informed culture across the wards, and subsequent collaborative care planning. There will be opportunities to utilise research skills to contribute to service development. You will be part of a cohesive team with a strong focus on quality improvement, co-production, further training and career development, plus aligning with the core
values of the Trust (i.e. compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence).
