Full Job Description

We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and creative Clinical Psychologist to join the Older Adult Community Team in Newcastle. This post will largely be based at St Nicholas Hospital in Gosforth. The post is a 0.6wte permanent post at Band 7. The person appointed will be working within the Newcastle Older Adult Community Treatment Team and Memory Service across Newcastle and parts of North Tyneside. We are a vibrant multi-disciplinary team consisting of mental health nurses, OTs, psychiatrists, mental health wellbeing practitioners, physiotherapists and support workers. The psychology team offers a range of therapeutic interventions, including CAT, CBT, DBT, EMDR, family therapy, formulation and neuropsychological assessment, to support older people and their families with both functional and cognitive difficulties., As part of the Community Treatment Team the person appointed will be providing psychological assessment, formulation and treatment for older adult clients and families experiencing a variety of complex mental health difficulties. The post holder will also work into the Memory Service, provide neuropsychological assessments for patients suspected of presenting with a dementia. In addition, there will be opportunities to support the provision of supervision and scaffolding to members of the Community Treatment Team.

Experience of working psychologically with older people with complexity and co-morbid difficulties would be an advantage. The post will provide opportunities for developing skills in teaching/training, clinical supervision, research, and involvement in service development.
