Clinical Psychologist

If so, we have a permanent opportunity for you to join our developing team at the Coborn Centre in East London. The Coborn Centre is located in well resourced, purpose built premises at Newham University Hospital. We currently work with 12-18 year old young people and their families. The Centre which opened in 2006 comprises of 12 acute beds, 16 intensive care beds and up to 9 day patient places. The service has led the way in the design of adolescent mental health facilities nationally.

The client group is varied and challenging. We have an eclectic and dynamic staff group and are seeking a candidate who has an interest in developing our current service, and delivering our clinical care in new ways. From the assessment, time limited interventions are offered both directly and through consultation with members of the wider multi-disciplinary team. A range of therapeutic orientations is represented in the wider team including psychodynamic, systemic and cognitive behavioural perspectives. Psychological input begins at admission and is focussed on enabling young people to return to their Community as soon as possible.

1. Ensure that clients receive a high standard of clinical care, while also mentoring junior staff to provide a comprehensive and suitable psychology service for clients, families, and caregivers.

2. Take a leading role in the advanced assessment and treatment of clients presenting with acute, chronic, or complex issues, co-producing formulations, interventions and challenging inequalities.

3. Evaluate clients' needs and refer them to other services when appropriate.

4. Maintain accurate records as an independent practitioner.

5. Communicate effectively with health and social care professionals, as well as external agencies, regarding client care and progresses.

6. Work jointly with, and communicate effectively to, team members around policies, service development, and management plans.

7. Manage a substantial clinical caseload with a focus on reducing distress, goal based outcomes and community focused collaboration, while working under supervision.
