Clinical Psychologist

Vertis Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Adult ASD Clinical Psychologist to join our growing Neurodevelopmental Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within a clinically-led, multidisciplinary autism diagnostic pathway, helping adults aged 16+ achieve greater understanding of themselves through safe, evidence-based and person-centred assessment. Working alongside experienced clinicians and service leaders, you will contribute advanced psychological assessment, formulation and diagnostic expertise while helping shape the future of a developing, high-quality service. Main duties of the job As a Clinical Psychologist within our Adult ASD team, you will:

• Deliver comprehensive autism assessments in line with NICE CG142, DSM-5 and ICD-11 diagnostic criteria.
• Conduct detailed clinical interviews, developmental history assessments, psychological formulation, and differential diagnostic evaluations.
• Utilise validated assessment tools including ADOS-2, ADI-R, AAA, ASDI or equivalent, where trained and competent to do so.
• Contribute expert psychological knowledge to multidisciplinary team discussions and diagnostic decision-making.
• Produce clear, high-quality diagnostic reports and communicate outcomes sensitively to service users and carers.
• Develop personalised support plans and provide recommendations for reasonable adjustments across health, education, employment and community settings.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with safeguarding, governance, information governance and professional standards., Vertis Health is seeking an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our Adult Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Assessment Service. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist psychological expertise in autism assessment, formulation and diagnostic decision-making, supporting high-quality, evidence-based assessments for adults referred for autism assessment.
You will conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, undertake developmental history-taking and psychological formulation, review supporting information from multiple sources, and contribute to multidisciplinary diagnostic discussions. You will also produce clear, high-quality diagnostic reports and support personalised recommendations, reasonable adjustments and signposting to relevant services and support networks. The successful candidate will have experience of adult ASD assessment within a multidisciplinary setting, excellent clinical reasoning and report-writing skills, and a commitment to person-centred, neurodiversity-affirming practice. You will work in accordance with NICE guidance, HCPC professional standards and organisational governance frameworks, helping to ensure a safe, compassionate and high-quality experience for individuals accessing the service. • Significant post-qualification experience within adult neurodevelopmental, mental health, learning disability or related services.
• Experience conducting or contributing to Adult ASD diagnostic assessments within a multidisciplinary team model.
• Strong formulation, diagnostic reasoning and report-writing skills.
Desirable
• Experience within Adult ASD Right to Choose services.
• Experience working with complex or dual presentations, including ASD and ADHD, mental health difficulties, trauma or learning disabilities.
• Experience providing supervision, peer review, audit or service improvement activities.
Qualifications Essential
• Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology or equivalent qualification conferring eligibility for HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
• Current HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
Desirable
• ADOS-2, ADOS-G and/or ADI-R training, or equivalent autism assessment training., Sound knowledge of NICE CG142 and adult autism diagnostic frameworks.
• Understanding of DSM-5 and ICD-11 diagnostic criteria.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, consent, confidentiality and the Mental Capacity Act.
• Ability to work within governed clinical pathways and audit processes.
• Commitment to neurodiversity-affirming and accessible practice.
