An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist to join the Community Acquired Brain Injury Service (CABIS) in a Band 7 role.

This is a 30 hour per week post and hours can be arranged flexibly.

CABIS is a uniquely commissioned providing community based neuro-rehabilitation to adults (16 years and over) with acquired brain injuries (ABI) and their carers. This position offers a pathway for professional growth for those with an interest in neuropsychology. This role offers a unique chance to contribute to an innovative, dynamic, and vibrant team committed to improving the lives of those with acquired brain injury (ABI), within Sunderland, Gateshead, and South Tyneside localities.

The post holder will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, responsible for conducting neuropsychological assessments and delivering specialist interventions to patients and their carers. Our patients present with a range of complex clinical needs due to ABI and head injuries. Additionally, the role involves providing expert advice and support to other teams within Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW), as well as to local acute and community services. The successful candidate will benefit from excellent opportunities for continuing professional development, supported by regular neuropsychology supervision, work-based learning, and training tailored to the role.

Main duties of the job

This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities centred on delivering specialised psychological and neuropsychological assessments and interventions. This includes conducting comprehensive cognitive assessments, collaboratively formulating rehabilitation plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions tailored to individual patients.

Key responsibilities include conducting both individual and group therapy sessions, as well as engaging families and carers in the therapeutic process. Additionally, the role will require providing support to multidisciplinary staff through regular supervision, team formulation sessions, and contributing to the understanding of complex risk issues.

CABIS is a busy, dynamic, and enthusiastic team who pride themselves on providing accessible, goal led neurorehabilitation for service users and their families. We work closely with other CNTW services and third sector partner organisations toprovide a holistic approach for service users.

The post holder will also have opportunities to supervise and support junior staff and take an active part in their development. You will have excellent opportunities for continuing professional development and be supported by regular neuropsychology supervision by supervisors on the SRCN, work based learning and training appropriate to the post. We welcome contact from candidates with an interest in neuropsychology, to further discuss these roles and visit our service.
