Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Operations Manager at James Paget University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to join the Theatre Management Team.

The successful post holder will work in close partnership with senior nursing colleagues and operational managers to provide strong leadership and effective operational oversight across the Theatre Complex.

The Theatre Complex is a diverse and high-activity environment, comprising Main Theatres, Day Care Theatres, and the James Paget Orthopaedic Centre (JPOC), which functions as the Trust's orthopaedic elective hub. The role requires the ability to manage complex operational demands, support service development and improvement, and contribute to the achievement of performance, quality and financial objectives in line with Trust strategy.

A broad range of surgical specialties are delivered across the Theatre services, including General Surgery, Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Maternity, Trauma and Emergency Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, Breast Surgery and Colorectal Surgery. The Clinical Operations Manager will play a key role in coordinating service delivery across these specialties, supporting workforce planning, theatre utilisation, patient flow and elective recovery.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced leader to contribute to the continued development of a dynamic Theatre service within a busy acute Trust, working collaboratively to enhance quality, safety, productivity and patient experience.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be an effective clinical leader, ensuring the team provides high quality care.
The post holder will be accountable for the day-to-day operational management of the service, ensuring effective workforce management, appropriate skill mix, and the smooth and efficient running of daily activity. You will work collaboratively with senior nursing, medical, and operational colleagues to support service delivery, manage risk, address performance issues, and contribute to the strategic development of the department. In this leadership role, you will be expected to proactively identify opportunities for improvement, implement evidence-based solutions, and provide assurance to senior managers regarding standards of care and operational performance.

We want to attract the best and brightest people to work with us and that means we will look after you from the moment you apply for a role at the Trust and throughout your career with us. Our staff are central to everything we do, and we believe that investing in you is crucial if we want to enable you to reach your full potential.
