Full Job Description

The post holder will use specialist knowledge and skills to support the AOS team to provide healthcare to patients who have a complex and undetermined presentation, and acutely unwell patients. The post holder will work supported by the wider team assessing the clinical situation, determining a working diagnosis, commencing initial treatment and appropriate supportive management. This includes the patients presenting with a new malignancy of unknown origin. The post holder will work alongside the medical team maintaining good communication and collaboration between the various multidisciplinary teams and also primary care and community palliative care. Evidence-based care will be inherent in their practice, ensuring that best practice is disseminated throughout the clinical areas. The post holder will work across the all areas of Acute Oncology:

  • Malignancy of Unknown Origin and Cancer of Unknown Primary
  • Telephone Triage
  • AOS presence in the day case
  • In-patient referrals for emergency admissions
