Full Job Description
Assist in the delivery and ongoing development of a progressive learning environment for all nursing staff, including nursing assistants and ophthalmic technicians, within Whipps Cross University Hospital.
Support the professional development of post-registration nursing staff and nursing assistants by contributing to the coordination of educational activities and facilitating the assessment of learning within the clinical setting.
Actively promote and contribute to interprofessional learning opportunities across Whipps Cross University Hospital and the wider Barts Health organisation.
Act as an effective role model, demonstrating professional, compassionate, and inspirational leadership for all members of the multidisciplinary team within the area of accountability.
Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of policies, protocols, clinical guidelines, standard operating procedures, and patient information to support safe, high-quality care.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Glaucoma Nurse Practitioner to join our growing Ophthalmology service at Whipps Cross. We are looking for a motivated, experienced ophthalmic nurse with strong clinical assessment skills and a passion for delivering high-quality glaucoma care.
In this autonomous role, you will perform full glaucoma assessments, manage your own clinics, interpret diagnostic tests, initiate and adjust treatment plans, and work closely with the multidisciplinary team to support safe, effective patient care. You will also contribute to service development, teaching, audit and pathway improvement.
You must be an enthusiastic, compassionate nurse with substantial ophthalmic experience and excellent communication and leadership skills. Non-medical prescribing or willingness to work towards it is desirable.
