Full Job Description
The Clinical Lead will use leadership, knowledge and skill to promote excellence in children's nursing care delivery on the Same Day Emergency Care Unit. This is an exciting time as we prepare for reconfiguration and the move of the unit into the Paediatric Emergency Department.
The post holder will work collaboratively with the other clinical managers to promote a culture of safety, learning from experience, and promote best practice.
The role will support nurses to realise their full potential as children's nurses, always placing children and their families at the centre of care.
The post holder will work closely with the Matron, Lead Nurse, General Manager, and senior paediatric medical team to support children's care delivery and be responsive to children, their families and staff needs.
The post holder will support the other clinical managers with the clinical and administrative aspects of the ward and ensure cost effective use of resources.
Main duties of the job
Maintain a high profile in the clinical areas by working clinically and be accessible to children their families
Support the nursing team in the development of assessment, implementation and evaluation of the needs of children and their families, whilst promoting the delivery of evidence-based care pathways for children and their families.
Ensure the delivery of safe care within a challenging and changing clinical environment, using persuasion and negotiation skills
Provide clinical advice within the Children's Directorate, working closely with the senior Directorate and Divisional team to further develop responsive, effective high quality services
Manage and lead nursing practice on the SDEC, working closely with the senior Directorate and Divisional team and other clinical managers, and paediatricians to ensure protocols, guidelines, policies and procedures are accurate and adhered to and updated accordingly
Implement change to ensure high quality service delivery in line with the national agenda
Bring to the immediate attention of the senior team any issues which are impeding the provision of an efficient or high quality service adhering to the escalation policy and the Trusts Incident reporting as relevant.
The successful candidate will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be resilient, creative, innovative and flexible. The ability to always illustrate a compassionate approach to children, young people and their families.
They will also need to be committed, focused, organised and adaptable to the changing needs of the service and also the wider organisation.
