Full Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Clinical Governance Manager to join the quality governance team at Whipps Cross Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced governance professional to play a key leadership role in driving quality, safety and continuous improvement across the hospital, embedding a culture of learning, transparency and openness in everything we do., The Clinical Governance Manager will provide leadership, oversight and assurance across a range of quality governance functions at Whipps Cross Hospital. The postholder will play a key role in delivering the hospital's clinical governance framework, supporting continuous improvement in patient safety, experience and clinical quality. Working across hospital and divisional teams, the postholder will lead on complaints management, risk processes, and implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), ensuring learning is embedded and translated into measurable improvements. The role will also support regulatory compliance, including Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards, inspections and external assurance processes., The full job description provides an overview of the key tasks and responsibilities of the role, and the person specification outlines the qualifications, skills, experience, and knowledge required. - Experience of providing formal teaching and development to staff Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
- Degree or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- In-depth knowledge of clinical governance, patient safety, PSIRF and risk management
- Understanding of complaints handling, Duty of Candour and regulatory frameworks
- Knowledge of NHS governance and assurance systems
- Understands the legislation and ethical implications of safe and secure storage of data
- Knowledge of risk management policy/ process derived from training/experience
- Knowledge of NHS complaints procedures gained from attending a relevant training course, or from experience in this area, Leadership or management qualification
- Training in patient safety, human factors or quality improvement
- Professional registration (e.g. NMC/AHP)
- Awareness of regulatory and assurance processes (e.g. CQC inspection methodology), Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Significant experience of resolving complaints, mediation or working in front-line patient or customer services
- Experience of leading or managing a team to deliver against KPIs
- Ability to influence and challenge constructively at senior levels
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with Experience of analysing data and identifying trends to inform improvement
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure
- High level of emotional intelligence and resilience, Advanced data analysis or reporting skills
- Experience using Datix or similar risk management systems, Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to plan and coordinate activities requiring input from multiple clinicians / service representatives
- Able to effectively plan, manage their diary and prioritise their workload - supporting the activity management of others
- Can demonstrate computer literacy in Windows and IT systems including database management
- Understands the legislation and ethical implications of safe and secure storage of data
- Able to store information and data safely and securely
- MS Office skills, including Outlook, Word and Excel., Skilled in presenting information to senior colleagues or governance forums
- Skilled in use of Datix Risk / Incident Management Software
- Advanced ICT skills, Significant proven experience of resolving complaints, mediation or working in front-line patient or customer services, in addition to the above
