Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is pleased to offer a Clinical Fellowship in Paediatrics aimed at doctors working at ST6ST7 level (or equivalent) who wish to further develop their clinical and professional skills outside of a formal training programme. This 12-month post combines hands-on clinical experience with opportunities for personal and professional development, including exposure to subspecialty areas, education, leadership and quality improvement initiatives. The role will be based primarily at Pinderfields Hospital (Wakefield) and Dewsbury Hospital, although all medical staff contribute to care across the Trusts sites. Less than full time applications will be considered. This post is not part of a recognised UK training programme; however, fellows will receive structured support, supervision and access to a range of educational opportunities during their time in post., The post holder will work at a senior registrar level, contributing to the delivery of acute paediatric and neonatal services across the Trust, including inpatient wards, assessment units and neonatal services. Responsibilities include: Assessment and management of acutely unwell infants, children and young people Working as part of the middle grade team to support acute service delivery Supporting and supervising junior medical staff with appropriate senior support Contributing to clinical decision-making and escalation within the multidisciplinary team Supporting patient flow and effective service delivery The role offers opportunities to develop increasing clinical responsibility within a supported environment, with consultant input readily available. The post holder will participate fully in the middle-grade rota, which includes: Weekday long days and twilight shifts Night shifts (paediatrics and neonates) Weekend working on a full shift rota The Trust operates a preference-based
rostering system, allowing fellows to indicate their shift preferences where possible. Service provision remains an essential component of the role; however, opportunities will be available to support the fellows ongoing clinical and professional development.
