A Vacancy at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.

This post is a full time, fixed term appointment at SpR level in Luminal Gastroenterology and General Medicine at the Bristol Royal infirmary. The post is initially for a 12-14 month period, with the option to extend if appropriate and assuming progress is satisfactory.

The successful applicant will join a dynamic gastroenterology team, working clinically to support both inpatient and outpatient work. There will also be the opportunity to work in luminal research via established research links with the University of Bristol.

In addition, the post holder will be part of the general medical on call rota at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, leading the acute medical take and the out of hours medical inpatient team as medical registrar.

The Department of Gastroenterology offers exposure to the regional intestinal failure service, experience in working in complex inflammatory bowel disease and in luminal research. The clinical aspect of the post can be tailored to the needs of the post-holder with the aim to provide 2 outpatient clinics per week, seeing both new and follow up patients (inflammatory bowel disease, nutrition and general luminal gastroenterology), supervised by a consultant from the gastrointestinal team. A regular endoscopy list will also be timetabled with additional endoscopy experience available via the daily acute GI bleed lists and adhoc inpatient lists. The remaining clinical time will be spent supporting inpatient work in gastroenterology.

Protected research time will be provided. There are several research themes within the department and the successful applicant will be able to discuss which project most suits their needs and interests.
