Full Job Description

An opportunity for a Clinical Fellow (Locally Employed Doctor) within the Urology Department has arisen for a period of 6-12 months depending on training needs. The post will provide a great opportunity to receive further specialist experience in Urology., This post will be required to cross cover both the Malignant and Benign services to ensure the service needs of both are maintained. Within this the post holder will have at least 6 clinical sessions which will include, theatre, diagnosistics, Out Patients, MDTs and ward rounds. The post holder is expected to be flexible with interchanging clinical sessions. An example job plan is included in Appendix 2.

The hospital participates in a busy emergency on-call service, which accepts a full range of urological emergencies.

The Clinical Fellow will be part of the SpR rota, with full prospective cover for annual leave, study leave and bank holidays. There are currently separate rotas for vascular emergencies, hepato-biliary and General Surgery at SpR level. The SpRs elective clinical activity is cancelled when they are on call.

There is a Surgical Assessment Unit which admits all surgical and urological emergency admissions.

The Trust is a Major Trauma Centre as well as the Regional Burns Centre and is also The Centre for Defence Medicine, which is fully integrated within the Trust. Military personnel work within all departments and the Trust regularly accepts service personnel with both acute and elective conditions.
