Full Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Fellow (ST1-2 equivalent) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join our dynamic team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad clinical and surgical experience within a busy, supportive, and forward-thinking department.
The role offers exposure to both Obstetrics and Gynaecology, including acute care, outpatient services, and theatre activity. You will work closely with experienced consultants and multidisciplinary teams, with structured supervision and strong educational support.
This post is particularly suited to doctors considering a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or those wishing to build experience towards specialty training or CESR pathways. You will be encouraged to develop your clinical skills, take part in service improvement, and contribute to high-quality patient care in a well-supported environment., The post holder will contribute to the delivery of high-quality care across both Obstetrics and Gynaecology services. This includes working on the labour ward with appropriate senior support, managing Obstetric and Gynaecological inpatients, and supporting acute and emergency services.
You will attend outpatient clinics across a range of subspecialties and participate in elective and emergency theatre activity, developing both clinical and surgical skills. The role also includes involvement in the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit and the Gynaecology Emergency Service, providing valuable experience in acute and ambulatory care settings.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating strong communication, organisational, and clinical decision-making skills. The role requires flexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering patient-centred, evidence-based care.
Participation in a full-shift on-call rota (currently 1 in 9), including nights, weekends, and long days, is required, with continuous registrar presence and readily available consultant support.

The basic salary £52,656 per annum. Additional allowances will be paid based on rostered hours and participation in the on-call rota. The Trust is compliant with the European Working Time Directive.
