Full Job Description

The Fellow will work closely with Dr Farhan Shahid and Dr Sohail Khan (who leads the highly regarded chronic total occlusion (CTO) PCI service at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham). There is a well-established CTO programme within the department. The Fellow would be expected to gain first operator experience in all hybrid techniques and familiarity with the CTO toolbox. Queen Elizabeth Hospital is established as offering a regional complex PCI service and there will be opportunities to work with all the PCI consultants during elective and acute lists. The Fellow is expected to fully participate in the PCI programme with commitments beyond lab experience; to complete patient management, meetings, research and conferences. During the term of the post the successful candidate can expect to perform 400 plus PCIs, the majority as first operator. The motivation to contribute to the out of hours PCI service is encouraged.

This post is ideally suited to individuals who are either post CCT (or equivalent) or approaching CCT, with a subspecialty interest in interventional cardiology and complex interventions including CTO. This Fellowship is designed to provide the skills required to be an independent PCI operator at consultant level.
