Full Job Description
The post holder will attend medical haematology clinics including subspecialty clinics (thrombosis, bleeding disorders, obstetric haematology and immune haematology). They will work closely with our medical haematology nursing and administration team to facilitate high quality care for our patients. The post-holder will not be contracted to contribute to the haematology registrar on call rota, but there may be an opportunity to be part of the second on rota covering weekends. The successful candidate will be required to collaborate with colleagues within haematology and other specialities across the West Midlands region. They will be expected to work within a team of medical personnel including the other UHB haematology registrars. Inpatients The appointee will participate in the attending HLT ward rounds and will be responsible for reviewing inpatients and providing specialist liaison advice if required. Outpatients The appointee will be expected to participate in weekly clinics, including TTP/immunohaematology. The delivery of outpatient activity will include opportunities to support clinical trial recruitment within the department. - Full registration with the GMC with licence to practice.
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK
- Medical Degree from a recognised University
- A minimum of 8 years full time post graduate training (its equivalent gained on a part time basis) or equivalent experience and competencies.
- Experience in the management of patients complex transfusion requirements and medical haematology., All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English that are adequate to enable effective communication about Medical topics with patients and colleagues
- Knowledge of the processes and function of clinical governance.
University Hospitals Birmingham Foundation Trust (UHB) is recruiting a 12m Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP) clinical fellow for Haematology, to join their dynamic team. The successful post holder will join an innovative team of Consultant Haematologists, to deliver a general haematology and non-malignant service in one of the largest trusts in the UK. The department is one of nine national specialist centres for the management of patients with Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP). The department is also the designated regional Comprehensive Care Centre for bleeding disorders, and has a large referral practice for thrombosis, immunohaematology and obstetric haematology. This is a full-time 12 month clinical, education and service improvement post based at QE, with the aim to improve the care of patients with TTP across the region. The postholder will participate in activities within the national TTP specialist network and take a leading role in delivering TTP-related outreach and education activities across the region. They will also work to improve the care of TTP patients through undertaking audit and service improvement activities.
