Full Job Description

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow in Cardiothoracic Surgery. The posts will be for a period of 6 months covering a training grade vacancy.
The successful candidate will work closely with a team of 8 Consultants, 2 Specialist Registrars and 8 other Trust Fellows to support the cardiothoracic service. The postholder will take part in the full shift rota.
This post is not recognized as an approved training post but is suited to someone seeking experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery. The post holder will be encouraged to attend teaching sessions for Registrars and to take part in clinical audit and research.
The Outpatient, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Cardiac Investigation Departments are situated on the ground floor. There are 27 surgical ward beds and 12 Cardio-thoracic Critical Care Unit beds, along with 3 dedicated Cardio-thoracic theatres on the 1^st floor. There are 35 acute cardiology beds with 3 cardiac catheter laboratories, 2 pacing theatres and 11 day care beds on the 2^nd floor., 1. In conjunction colleagues, to play a full part in the rota for the department.
2. To provide cover for colleagues in respect of periods of leave.
3. In conjunction with colleagues, to take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
4. In conjunction with colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
5. To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.
6. In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to play a full part in the supervision junior medical staff.
7. In conjunction with colleagues, to take responsibility for the best use of departmental staffing and other resources to ensure the maximum efficiency of the department.

9. o observe the Trust's agreed policies and procedures, in particular in relation to managing staff, and to follow the Trust's Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions. These policies and procedures have been drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters.
Clinical Governance
9. n conjunction with colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
Health & Safety
10. o take responsibility for your own Health & Safety complying with any safe working arrangements, policies and procedures which are in place.
11. To accept a duty to other staff and patients to ensure that any hazards are reported and managed appropriately.

12.
