Full Job Description

Applications are invited for Locally Employed Doctors to work at Higher level in Anaesthetics, based the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

These are fixed term contracts with 6-12 month posts available

Please note these are not recognised training posts but similar opportunities to a training post will be provided, according to the education and development needs of the successful applicant. These can be tailored to mirror the 2021 RCOA curriculum

The current posts are for the Higher LED grade, with successful applicants required to participate in a 1:8 on-call rota (see template rota below). The on-call commitment may include time on intensive care, EPOC or obstetric anaesthesia, depending on experience. There will be the option to gain a breadth of theatre or intensive care experience during normal working day sessions if desired, with potential to develop expertise in a particular subspecialty of anaesthesia or intensive care. Previous applicants have gained experience in difficult airway management, tertiary trauma care and management of complex major burns, but many other opportunities exist. Please discuss any particular interests or requirements with the resident workforce lead prior to interview.
