Clinical Fellow

The post holder will gain clinical and operative skills under the direct supervision of the consultants on the shoulder and elbow teams. The post holder will conduct clinics, operating lists, ward rounds and assist with clinical management with the consultants and on behalf of the consultants' during their absence. The unit offers a broad experience in open and arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and elbow conditions, within an internationally-renowned Academic Shoulder and Elbow Service that leads on high-profile multi-centre translational research projects. There is the potential to attend trauma sessions for the assessment and treatment of complex upper limb conditions in the Oxford Major Trauma Centre., The post holder will be expected to participate in audit, training and research as a member of the Shoulder and Elbow Team.

The post holder must be up to date with all mandatory and statutory training including ALS Trained with a valid certificate.,

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
• FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent
• Previous shoulder and elbow attachment (at ST 7-8 level)
• Full GMC registration with license to practice.

• Higher surgical degree
• Previous Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship, HST post in Orthopedics'
• Competent to perform common shoulder and elbow procedures
• Able to manage patients under consultant supervision

• Validated logbook documentation of surgical exposure to date
Academic/Research SkillsEssential criteria
• Demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of audit, clinical risk management and evidence-based practice
• Understanding of research basic research principles, methodology and ethics, with potential to contribute to research
Desirable criteria
• Evidence of relevant academic and research achievements, e.g. degrees, prizes, awards, distinctions, publications, presentations, other achievements
• Evidence of active participation in audit, Good basic IT skills including wording processing and simple databases, Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills., Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team

The post is full-time, fixed term contract for 6 months. Salary scale: Nodal Point 5 - local appointment grade code - MT05 The post holder must be up to date with all mandatory and statutory training. This Post is subject to the Trusts terms and conditions that mirror the 2018 junior doctors contract refresh.
