Full Job Description

The postholder will provide specialist technical expertise in the maintenance, performance assurance, risk management and life cycle planning of the imaging modalities, including X-ray, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, mammography, CT, MRI, theatres C-arms, and dental imaging.

The role oversees the full lifecycle of imaging assets--from specification and procurement through to commissioning, maintenance, quality assurance, and decommissioning.

They will act as the Trust's senior technical specialist for imaging devices, supporting clinical services, advising on equipment selection and governance and ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks including MHRS, IR(ME)R and IEC standards and Trust Medical Devices Policy., They will manage maintenance contracts, technologists, deliver corrective and preventive maintenance, perform acceptance and oversee QA testing, lead investigations, support procurement, and ensure compliance with safety legislation. When required they will also support maintenance across general medical devices such as patient monitors, infusion devices, ventilators, anaesthetic systems, fetal monitors, and other critical equipment.

It is expected that the post holder will work independently and have the responsibility for the management of supervision and training of other Clinical Technologists. On occasions they will be challenged by work of an unpredictable nature. The ability to readily adapt to change in priorities is a requirement for this post as no two days are the same. This activity will take place in departmental workshops, hospitals, patient's homes, and other healthcare environments part of Whittington Health NHS Trust, and our SLA's partners, travelling will be involved to and from sites. It can be anticipated that patients may be present who are subject to therapy, nursing or surgical procedures in the vicinity when fault investigation has to be done as a matter of urgency.

On occasions, the post holder will be required to work without any immediate managerial or supervisory support.

Manufacturer training will be provided where needs are highlighted and in consultation with of the Head of Clinical Engineering., The Clinical Engineering Department plays a key role in supporting patient care by ensuring that medical equipment is safe, reliable, and fit for purpose. The team manages the full lifecycle of devices, including maintenance, repair, and replacement, working closely with clinical staff and other departments across the Trust.
