Full Job Description

The clinical educator in conjunction with the Matron will participate in innovation and evidence based nursing practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team. As a clinical educator, you will provide education, training and support to the nursing team with a particular focus on inducting and supporting our newly qualified nurses and international educated nurses within the clinical environment. The clinical educator will act as a credible and professional role model, empowering staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential with the end outcome of enhancing the care delivered. Main duties of the job The primary purpose of this role is to support and deliver on-going education and training for nursing and teams. Identify all opportunities for themselves and others where learning can take place, both formally and informally. Support a Training Needs Analysis and maintain registers of training as appropriate, Develop appropriate competency based clinical skills education and develop relevant competency assessment documents for approval by NEAG. Support the Trusts Governance and Patient Safety agenda To maintain the delivery and quality of services provided within the care environment. Influence change and development of practice, Implementation of evaluation audits to measure the impact of educational programmes and disseminate the results. Support and deliver local competency based induction, The primary purpose of this role is to support and deliver on-going education and training for nursing and teams. There may be a requirement to support members of the wider MDT to support implementation of wider service/pathway changes. Identify all opportunities for themselves and others where learning can take place, both formally and informally. Support a Training Needs Analysis and maintain registers of training as appropriate, support ward and departmental sisters/charge nurses to ensure mandatory training levels are compliant with Trust standard. Contribute to corporate training and education. Will be asked to support the roll out of practice development initiatives. Develop appropriate competency based clinical skills education and develop relevant competency assessment documents for approval by NEAG. Support the Trusts Governance and Patient Safety agenda through active participation in the work of the Nurse Documentation Group and relevant training subgroups. To maintain the delivery and quality of services provided within the care environment including the care delivered, supporting nursing standards and acting as a role model working clinically with staff where needed. To provide a nursing lead as a member of the multidisciplinary team o Provide advice o Patient and Staff advocacy Influence change and development of practice, utilising the most recent evidence base. Contribute to performance review of nursing staff where appropriate. Abide by Trust policies when dealing with complaints, accidents and incidents. Maintain discipline within the clinical area, abiding by Trust Disciplinary Procedure Policies Contribute to interview panels, where appropriate in the appointment of staff, and be aware of legislation and local HR policies affecting the employment of staff.   • Ability to assist patients to move as per Trust Moving and Handling Policy
  • Carrying teaching equipment such as laptop, stationary etc.
  • Manual dexterity and up to date working knowledge of equipment e.g. syringe drivers, infusion pumps etc.

    Evidence of leadership and strong interpersonal skills
  • Awareness of national health and social care policy
  • Knowledge of best practice in area of specialism
  • Able to work without supervision
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft office packages and electronic nursing documentation
  • Proven interpersonal skills
