Full Job Description

This apprentice role will primarily provide reception and administrative support for the cardiac MRI department within the Imaging Clinical Research Facility at St Thomas' Hospital. The main purpose of the post is to meet and greet patients at reception and provide support to the clinical and research MRI admin teams. This will include data entry and contacting patients regarding their MRI appointments using NHS computer systems and Microsoft Office. You will be responsible for ensuring administrative support is provided in a flexible, responsive and confident manner, both in a clinical and research setting. This will include a variety of duties and a high level of patient contact. The successful candidate should be able to work well with a wide variety of people as the department is made up of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as being a good team player. This is a full time post (apprenticeship hours - 4 days per week on site, 1 day at college/learning), and you will be offered an a fixed term contract of apprenticeship length of 18 months.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria

  • GCSE / NVQ / or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Basic understanding / experience of Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail
  • Desirable criteria
  • Administrative / secretarial experience
  • Experience in customer service

    The role sits within the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, and specifically within the cardiac MRI Clinical Research Department based at St Thomas' Hospital.
  • The School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences are committed to improve the way we deliver healthcare through the use of advanced engineering. The department has 9 MRI scanners and a catheterisation lab, providing clinical and research MRI services in the areas of cardiac, foetal, neonatal and advanced brain imaging. The facility is embedded within St Thomas' Hospital. Last year we conducted over 6000 clinical scans, of which over 4500 were recruited to research., We pride ourselves on being inclusive and welcoming.
