Full Job Description

We are recruiting for full-time Client Liaison Officers to join a new partnership service supporting people experiencing financial hardship across Exeter., As a Client Liaison Officer, you will often be one of the first people a client speaks to. You'll take time to understand the individual and their circumstances, identify immediate needs, complete initial checks and assessments, and help them take the next steps towards the right advice and support. A key part of the role is helping people engage with advice. This means listening without judgement, understanding what might be making engagement difficult and adapting your approach to the individual. You'll work closely with our Money Advice Caseworkers and partner organisations across Exeter to help clients stay engaged and make their journey through advice as straightforward as possible.

Do you have experience supporting people who may be vulnerable, anxious or facing difficult circumstances? Are you approachable, organised and good at helping people feel heard and supported?, We're looking for people who genuinely want to make a difference. Previous experience in money or debt advice isn't essential - we'll provide the training and support you need to develop the knowledge and skills required for the role. What matters most is that you're an excellent communicator, a natural problem solver and someone who can build trust with people who may be struggling to engage with services.,

  • have experience supporting people who may be vulnerable or need additional support;
  • are friendly, patient and confident communicating with a wide range of people;
  • can listen, ask appropriate questions and respond without judgement;
  • are organised and comfortable using IT and recording information accurately;
  • can work independently while being part of a wider team; and
  • want a role where you can make a practical difference to people's lives.
  • Your experience might come from housing, health or social care, mental health, community services, customer support, benefits, homelessness, advocacy or another people-focused role. Full training and support will be provided. Location is important These are client-facing roles based in Exeter. You must be able to work in Exeter and be based at the Council offices for at least two days each week, as well as meeting clients face-to-face. Delivery will also include working from community locations across the city and, where needed, outreach and home visits. The roles are hybrid, with some home working available. Please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification for full details of the roles, salary, hours and requirements. If you have strong experience supporting people but haven't worked in the money advice sector before, please don't let that stop you applying. We're interested in the transferable skills and experience you can bring - and we'll support you to develop the specialist knowledge you need.
