Full Job Description

Responsible for the provision of an efficient and comprehensive clerical service to dermatology patients, clinicians, nurses and numerous external agencies. Ensure effective communication with associated departments. 2. Assist in the organisation of the Clinical Team's workload. 3. Maintain high levels of customer care The role requires word processing, excel and keyboard skillsWorking for our organisation Our dedicated dermatology service are spread across two main sites, the Royal Blackburn hospital and Burnley general hospital. This post may require cross site working . At East Lancashire Hospitals NHS trust our vision is widely recognised for providing safe, personal and effective care., 1. Ensure all queries from colleagues and external organisations are dealt with quickly and effectively in the department, producing file notes as necessary. 2. To adhere to agreed policies, procedures and protocols. 3. Ensure the smooth running of the office and inform nursing staff of any difficulties regarding patient details. 4. Deal with incoming correspondences as appropriate. 5. Photocopying, general office duties and the use of Cerner 6. Book in and book out patients using cerner 7. Arrange hospital transport as necessary 8. Cancel and rebook treatment room/minor operations/PDT appointment/phototherapy appointments, liaising with patients and any relevant Trust personal. 9. Ensure shared knowledge within the team. 10. Respond to telephone calls from anxious and distressed patients, taking messages and resolving problems when possible, in a professional and competent manner. 11. Take minutes at staff meeting as required. 12. Keep up to date with technological developments with regard to developing appropriate skills in the use of current office technology. E.g. word processing, spreadsheets, databases, electronic mail, presentations etc. 13. Maintain and encourage safe working practices and environment in accordance with local Health and Safety Policies. 14. Organise the office efficiently in a complex, changing environment. 15. Manage multiple tasks ensuring deadlines are met. 16. Communicate appropriately with a range of people at different levels of the organisation 17. Be flexible, self-motivated and work with minimum supervision. 18. To participate in reflection, self evaluation and continuous professional developments including performance review.

The role reqires competencies in general administration duties, ability to work well within the team and good communication skills An ability to understand the need for and maintain confidentiality is essential,

  • 4 GCSE including maths and English at grade C or above
  • Proven ability to provide administrative support.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of ability to deal with routine (although occasionally complex and sensitive) matters with tact
  • Evidence of standard key board skills
  • Evidence of standard IT packages such as Microsoft office suite of products.
  • Clear and accurate written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to travel across sites as required.
  • Must be able to adapt to the changing needs of the unit.

  • Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.
