Clerical Officer / Typist - Gastroenterology

The Gastroenterology department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital are looking for motivated, organised and dedicated individuals to join the Gastro Admin Team as Clerical Officers/Typists. As part of this busy and varied role, the successful candidates will support the Gastroenterology Department by working as part of a sub-speciality team to provide administrative support to the medical team, patients, relatives, and external health providers, via multiple forms of communication.Main duties of the job The ideal candidates will be conscientious, motivated and committed to providing a professional and efficient administrative and clerical service to patients. The post holders will act as a key point of contact for communication between medical and nursing teams, patients and their relatives, hospital staff, General Practitioners, and external agencies. They will maintain effective working relationships between consultants, patients and relevant healthcare professionals, ensuring that communication is accurate, timely and professional. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage a constantly changing workload effectively. They will be able to work independently, use their own initiative and contribute positively as part of a wider multidisciplinary team. Key responsibilities will include typing and preparing patient correspondence and clinical letters, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality at all times. The post holder will also be responsible for updating and maintaining each patient's Referral to Treatment (RTT) pathway in line with Trust policies and guidelines, ensuring information is recorded accurately and within required timescales.
