Dickens Heath Community Primary School is seeking a passionate, skilled and nurturing SEND Class Teacher to join our team, working with children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 with complex communication needs and autism. This is an exciting opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of our youngest learners and to be part of a school committed to inclusion, creativity and high quality provision for all.About the RoleWe are looking for a teacher who can deliver high quality, personalised and inclusive learning that supports pupils' communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, sensory needs and independence. You will create a safe, structured and engaging environment where every child can thrive.You will work closely with our senior leadership team, dedicated support staff, families and a range of external professionals to ensure each child achieves their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.What we ask of you:

  • Plan and deliver personalised
  • learning for pupils with autism and complex communication needs.
  • Adapt the curriculum to meet EHCP outcomes and developmental stages. Use specialist approaches including Total Communication, Intensive Interaction, Attention Autism, TEACCH, visual supports and sensory based learning. Develop communication through AAC systems such as PECS, Makaton and communication devices. Work with occupational therapists to implement sensory diets and embed sensory regulation strategies. Create sensory supportive environments and use sensory profiles to tailor provision. Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and support emotional regulation using positive behaviour support. Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and multi agency professionals. Contribute to EHCP reviews, assessments and multi agency meetings. Uphold high standards of safeguarding, professionalism and inclusive practice.

    What We're Looking For:A teacher who is: Passionate about early childhood development and inclusive education. Skilled in adapting teaching for pupils with autism and communication needs. Knowledgeable about sensory processing and regulation. Committed to building strong relationships with children and families. Reflective, proactive and eager to continue developing professionally. Able to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
  • Experience in Early Years, KS1 or specialist SEND settings is desirable, but we welcome applications from teachers with a strong commitment to SEND and a willingness to learn.What We Offer:

    Salary: Teacher Main Scale - M1 - M6 + SEN Allowance (UPS will be considered)
