Full Job Description
National Highways have an exciting opportunity for a Claims Handler to join our Network Claims team. This role will be based out of our Warrington office on a hybrid basis. The successful candidate will:
- Be responsible for a portfolio of cases, from logging the claims through to their resolution. Proactively manage the progress of these claims in line with SLAs and to ensure resolution in a timely manner.
- Assess all of the available evidence and thoroughly investigate each claim, in order to either defend our position on liability for claims made against National Highways or demonstrate negligence by the third party we are claiming against.
- Negotiate with third party insurers and loss adjusters to obtain the best possible settlement within financial delegations, escalating to a claims manager with detailed recommendations when required.
- Collaborate and engage with a wide range of stakeholders in the course of handling claims, including other departments within National Highways, external contractors, third party insurers and loss adjusters, solicitors, and claimants.
- Be an engaged member of the regional team and the wider Network Claims team, contributing to department initiatives and supporting other colleagues when needed.
Experience of handling cases within an insurance claims environment (desirable). - Excellent negotiating and client management skills.
- Able to work under pressure and prioritise workload effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication skills.
- Previous experience in office administration, and competent IT skills; particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
