Our Maintenance Operations team manages critical engineering infrastructure across the university, ensuring that essential services remain reliable, resilient and responsive. From district heating and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems to reactive maintenance and planned engineering works, our teams play a vital role in supporting teaching, research and student life. If you're looking for a role where your technical expertise has a real impact every day, we'd love to hear from you., This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional to step into a leadership role within one of London's most complex engineering environments. As Maintenance and Operations Supervisor (CHP), you'll lead a team of up to 20 skilled operatives responsible for maintaining critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure across UCL's estate. You will have experience leading operational maintenance teams, planning workloads, managing priorities and supporting staff performance within a busy engineering environment. You'll be confident making decisions under pressure, diagnosing technical issues and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard. You'll also bring:

  • Experience supervising reactive and planned maintenance activities within a complex estate or similar environment.
  • A strong understanding of building services, plant operation and maintenance, including CHP, steam or district heating systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation, risk assessments, permits to work and safe systems of work.
