Job Description
Birmingham Children's Trust is seeking an experienced Childrens Senior Practitioner to join their Area Services team in Aston, Birmingham (B6 4DU), on a temporary basis from 7 September 2026 at a rate of £18.92-£25.63 per hour (via Prism).
In this lead-practitioner role you will drive improvements in the quality of professional social work practice across the full casework cycle for children, young people and their families. You will hold a complex caseload within the children and families service whilst acting as a source of technical and professional expertise for less experienced colleagues - providing coaching, mentoring and quality assurance to support their development.
Key responsibilities include managing allocated complex cases to a high standard; sharing thorough working knowledge of relevant legislation, national standards, guidance and departmental policy; promoting effective partnership working with service users, other teams and external agencies; and supporting the Team Manager with any duties commensurate with the needs of the service. You will also contribute to performance management reporting and actively engage in training and development activities.
Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and is subject to an enhanced DBS/ISA check.
