Our Children's Unit provides high-quality inpatient, day-case, and assessment care for infants, children, and young people with a diverse range of medical, surgical, and complex health needs. As a Band 6 nurse, you will play an essential part in ensuring safe, effective care delivery, supporting junior colleagues, coordinating the shift, and acting as a positive role model for excellent paediatric practice. You will bring strong clinical expertise, sound decision-making, and a commitment to family-centred care. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to support seamless care pathways, safeguard vulnerable children, and promote the Trust's core values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. If you are passionate about paediatrics, ready to develop your leadership skills, and eager to make a meaningful impact on the experience of children and families at Tameside, we would love to hear from you., As a Band 6 Paediatric Staff Nurse on the Children's Unit, you will provide senior clinical leadership and coordinate safe, effective care for infants, children, and young people with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions. You will act as the Nurse in Charge of the shift when required, ensuring safe staffing, appropriate skill mix, and smooth patient flow throughout the unit. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate high-quality, evidence-based nursing care while maintaining a strong focus on family-centred practice and safeguarding responsibilities. You will support, supervise and mentor Band 5 nurses, support workers and student nurses, promoting a positive learning environment and ensuring all staff work in accordance with Trust policies, NMC standards and paediatric best practice. You will communicate effectively with children, families and the multidisciplinary team, acting as a key point of escalation for deteriorating patients and ensuring timely clinical decision-making. Your role will include contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement, infection prevention and risk management initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service standards. You will uphold the Trust values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence, ensuring every child and family receives safe, compassionate and personalised care.
