Children's Rotational Occupational Therapist

We have an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to join Children's Therapies at Barts Health NHS Trust in Tower Hamlets. This is a rotational post across community services at Mile End Hospital and acute services at Royal London Hospital.

Your first rotation will be hosted in the acute or community children's occupational therapy teams. You will be integrated within the wider children's occupational therapy team, alongside the wider AHP network.Our well established and friendly teams offer care that is contemporary, personalised, occupational performance driven, and outcome focused.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain experience working in the following clinical areas during the 5 rotations lasting 12 month each:o Outpatient Occupational/Hand Therapy: a specialised caseload of children requiring input following traumatic hand injuries, surgery, upper limb botulinum toxin injections and those with congenital hand conditions. o Acute inpatients: carrying out assessment and intervention for children with a wide variety of conditions including, but not limited to: developmental delay, neurology, orthopaedics including pre-admission clinic and those admitted due to major trauma.

o Early Years Team: including the MDT Complex Needs Therapy Team, special schools work and workshops for parents.o Primary Schools Team: including mainstream and special schools work, home visits and parent/teacher training.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide high quality and specialist occupational therapy interventions to a wide range of paediatric patients.

To provide client centered specialist Occupational Therapy assessment, advice and input to children and young people with acute, traumatic, congenital and/or chronic conditions affecting their occupational performance using the best available evidence base.

To gain experience of the occupational therapy process over a child's whole journey within the different teams of the Children's Occupational Therapy Services across acute and community settings in yearly rotations.

To provide advice and support to other professionals, educational staff, parents and carers involved in addressing the occupational performance of children with a range of needs in the community and acute setting.
