Full Job Description

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills to work as part of a busy team providing a high standard of care for the children and young people that we support. You will need to work with your own initiative as well as with guidance, always ensuring the young peoples needs are at the centre of what you do. To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who:

  • Can follow care plans and keep them under review, updating as needed.
  • Is able to work shift work as part of a rota which includes unsociable hours and some weekends.
  • Is able to create factual reports.
  • Is willing to undertake training and put theory to practice.
  • Can undertake personal care for the children and young people.
  • Has a proactive approach to their own learning.
  • Is able to communicate in an open honest manner
  • Can organise and deliver new opportunities of recreational and social experiences for children and young people.
  • Has an awareness of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015
  • Has or is willing to complete the Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
