Children's IRO

Gateshead Council is seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic Qualified Social Work team. As an IRO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard and their rights upheld throughout the care planning process. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable children in our community. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Conducting regular reviews of care plans for children in care, ensuring that they are appropriate and effective.
• Facilitating meetings with children, families, and professionals to gather insights and feedback.
• Monitoring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice standards.
• Providing expert advice and guidance to social workers and other stakeholders.
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to reviews and meetings.
  
  A recognized social work qualification (e.g., BA in Social Work, MSc in Social Work).
• Registration with Social Work England.
• Significant experience in children's social work, particularly in a reviewing or oversight capacity.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
