Children's Community Health Care Support Worker

To obtain venous or capillary blood samples from children and young people. To label specimen bottles accurately and place samples in appropriately labelled bottles and packaging for transporting to the relevant laboratory. To conduct all procedures with an awareness of the childs individual needs and respecting patient confidentiality. To record appropriately in the patients electronic records in accordance to trust policy. To approach the child with courtesy and give an age appropriate explanation of the procedure. Obtain appropriate consent for the procedure being carried out. Recognise and respond appropriately to an emergency situation. When carrying out assessments document and sign all results and inform trained nurses/clinicians of abnormal results and outcomes of assessments. To be responsible for highlighting and identification of child protection concerns to either the Children's Community Nursing Team Leader and Safeguarding lead at the Hertfordshire Community Trust and action
