Full Job Description

The Children's Commissioning Team is responsible for developing and administering contracts for a wide range of services benefiting children and young people in Kent. The Total Placement Service is responsible for sourcing placements for children in care and care experienced young people The team is looking to recruit to a permanent full time Administration Officer in the Commissioning Team and a fixed term full time Administration Officer, initially to 31 March 2027, to deliver a range of business, administration, financial and system services to enable the effective and efficient running of the team. The postholder will be responsible for the provision of administrative support across the Children's Commissioning team, including monitoring of team inboxes, coordination of complex meetings and diary management, preparation of documents for meetings, including Word documents and Powerpoint presentations, maintenance of Action Logs and contact lists and understand financial systems., This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

The ideal candidate must possess the following experience and key skills:

  • High motivation and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent organisational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and targets, prioritise tasks and plan effectively
  • Excellent administration skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to create and maintain complex spreadsheets
  • Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business and be able to work under pressure
  • Ability to investigate and resolve complex queries
  • Awareness of Data Protection and confidentiality issues.
