Walsall Council is seeking a qualified Children's Assistant Practitioner to join our Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive environment where you can contribute to enhancing the well-being and development of children with disabilities and their families. As a Children's AP in the CWD Team, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direct support to children with disabilities and their families, ensuring their needs are met.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of care plans in collaboration with social workers and other professionals.
  • Conducting assessments and monitoring progress, while maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Facilitating communication between families and relevant agencies to ensure a holistic approach to care.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to service development initiatives.

    To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
  • A relevant social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children and families, particularly those with disabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in social work.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
