Full Job Description

The Lodge has been established as a children's home for children 11- 18 years, male or female, who have learning disabilities and/or are autistic. These young people/children may also have emotional support needs. All children and young people will be subject to section 20 of the Children Act 1989 and have an allocated Independent Reviewing officer (IRO). The young person may also have an allocated key worker assigned from the Key worker service who will work with the young person leading up to the stay during their time at the unit as well as their transition out. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, be able to work as part of a busy team providing a high standard of care for the children and young people that we support, work with own initiative as well as with guidance. Working at a fast pace, always ensuring the child/ young person's needs are kept paramount. To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who has:

  • To follow care plans whilst keeping them updated
  • Willing to work shift work as part of a rota.
  • To be able to create factual reports.
  • To be willing to undertake training and put theory to practice.
  • Proactive approach to own learning.
  • To communicate in an open honest manner
  • To organise and deliver new opportunities of recreational and social experiences for children and young people.
  • Awareness of the Childrens Homes (England) Regulations 2015
  • To have or willing to complete the Diploma level 3/4 in Children and Young People
  • Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
