This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organisation. We pay an attractive salary of £24,780.62 - £27,056.50 (Level 3) / £27,825.52 - £30,031.42 (Level 5) and offer access to training and development opportunities. Are you an experienced and passionate childcare professional ready to take the next step in your leadership journey? Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of young children and their families? We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Welsh Speaking Childcare Leader to join our vibrant, high-quality Flying Start Childcare Service. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a committed childcare team, help shape outstanding early years provision, and support children to achieve the very best outcomes. As a Childcare Leader, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of one of our Flying Start childcare settings, ensuring the delivery of safe, inclusive and high-quality Welsh Medium childcare that meets the needs of children and families. You will lead and inspire a team of childcare practitioners, creating an environment where children can thrive, parents feel supported, and staff are motivated to deliver excellent practice. Whilst the post will primarily be based within one Flying Start setting, there may be occasions where you are required to provide support to other Flying Start settings across the Caerphilly Borough. What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Leading and supporting a team to deliver outstanding childcare provision
  • Ensuring compliance with all childcare legislation, regulations and Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) standards
  • Promoting an inclusive, nurturing and respectful environment for all children and families
  • Supporting children with additional and emerging needs to achieve their full potential
  • Building positive relationships with parents and carers, encouraging engagement and participation
  • Monitoring attendance and uptake to support effective service delivery
  • Working collaboratively with multi-agency partners to provide a seamless Flying Start service

We are looking for a confident and inspiring childcare leader who is committed to delivering the highest standards of childcare and early years practice.
  • This is an opportunity to become part of a dedicated and supportive team that is passionate about improving outcomes for children and families. You'll have the chance to use your skills and experience to lead high-quality provision, drive continuous improvement and make a lasting impact within a local community. If you are passionate about early years childcare, committed to excellence, and ready to lead a team making a difference every day, we would love to hear from you. For the role, we ask that you have:
  • Children's Care Play Learning and Development (CCPLD L3/5) or similar relevant Level 3/5 qualification on the Credit and Qualification Framework for Wales
  • Knowledge of educational development and health needs of children under 5
  • At least 2 years post-qualification experience of working with children aged under 4 years, in a childcare provision
  • The ability to fluently speak and understand Welsh language

Caerphilly County Borough Council does not receive applications submitted via the StudySmarter website. All applications must be submitted through our official Council website.
  • This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all successful applicants. This will include an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service. The ability to speak Welsh is regarded as essential to the undertaking of this post. Thus, the position is advertised in line with the provisions of Section 38 of the Race Relations Act 1976.

We have excellent benefits including the Local Government Pension Scheme, and staff discount schemes.
