Full Job Description

As a Childcare Development and Sufficiency Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring children and families across Wigan have access to high-quality childcare and school-aged provision. Working with schools, childminders, nurseries and other childcare providers, you will support the development and sustainability of childcare services, including breakfast clubs, after-school and holiday provision. You will analyse childcare sufficiency data, support business planning and funding applications, and help shape local childcare provision to meet current and future demand.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual who is passionate about improving access to high-quality childcare for children and families. You will have experience of working with schools, childcare providers or community organisations and be confident in building positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You'll be able to provide practical advice, business support and guidance to help establish and sustain childcare provision, including breakfast, after-school and holiday clubs. Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and support projects from planning through to delivery., To be appointed to this role you must be able to prove your right to work in the UK, and you must maintain a valid (active) right to work. You'll join a passionate and supportive Early Learning and Childcare team committed to improving outcomes for children and families across the borough. We work collaboratively with schools, childcare providers and partners to develop innovative solutions that expand access to quality childcare. Salary: Grade 7, £32,597 - £36,363 per annum.

37 hours per week

Temporary 12-month contract
