Full Job Description

We're excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced, motivated and highly skilled clinician to join us as our Chief Registrar in Trauma and Orthopaedics. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about T&O, enthusiastic about driving Quality Improvement, and keen to influence positive change across the department. As Chief Registrar, you will take on a unique blend of 50% clinical and 50% leadership responsibilities. Clinically, you will work across the T&O specialty on the Registrar rota, covering Wards, TAU, outpatients and the take. You'll be part of a dynamic team that values collaborative working, close consultant support and regular training opportunities designed to help you grow and thrive. This is an excellent opportunity to shape patient care, strengthen clinical systems and develop your leadership capabilities while contributing to the continuous improvement of T&O services at the RUH. If you're forward-thinking, enthusiastic and ready to take on a senior role that makes a real impact, we'd be delighted to hear from you., The chief registrar role is a senior leadership and management role for higher specialty trainee doctors. The role allows 50% protected time to develop and implement local initiatives focusing on, for example, service improvement, workforce transformation, engagement and morale, and education and training. Clinically the Chief Registrar will participate in both trauma and elective services, and this will be matched to the applicant's areas of interest as best possible. The successful applicant will also participate in the general T&O registrar on call rota. Key priorities of the chief registrar role include:

  • Providing a 'bridge' between the junior doctor workforce, senior clinical leaders and managerial staff to improve engagement.
  • Quality improvement (QI) and service development/redesign to improve outcomes for patients, for example coordination of medical care.
  • Planning, developing and improving the quality of education and training activities, and supporting/motivating other trainees.
  • Involvement in workforce planning and transformation, and the deployment of medical staff and allied health professionals to meet healthcare challenges.
  • Working across teams and boundaries to engage stakeholders and influence change.

At the RUH we put people at the heart of what we do, working together as one team to make a difference for our patients, each other, and our community. No matter what your role is, we value everyone's contribution in supporting the exceptional, person-centred care we pride ourselves on.
