  • Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, Trading Standards, Retail Law and RSPCA Derby policies
  • Managing the shop's online sales where applicable
  • Promoting the shop and the work of RSPCA Derby within the local community
  • Because we're a small retail team, this role suits someone who is practical, proactive and enjoys being part of a supportive team.

We're looking for someone who is:
  • Experienced in retail, with previous experience in a supervisory or management role
  • Confident leading, motivating and developing staff and volunteers
  • Organised and commercially aware, with experience of managing stock and working towards targets
  • Friendly and customer-focused, with strong communication skills and the confidence to handle complaints and difficult situations
  • Able to manage budgets, monitor performance and maintain accurate financial records
  • Reliable, honest and able to lead by example
  • Proactive, adaptable and positive about embracing change and new ideas
  • Comfortable handling cash, operating a till and using computers
  • At least two years' experience in charity retail, managing a shop or volunteers, or fashion, furniture, homeware or department store retail would be beneficial. Knowledge of Gift Aid, retail law, Trading Standards or Health and Safety regulations would also be beneficial, as would a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, but none of these are essential.

RSPCA Derby is a small, local charity making a real difference for animals in our community. This role offers the chance to:
  • Be part of the team that sets up and opens our brand-new Alfreton shop
  • Build and lead your own team of staff and volunteers
  • Play a direct part in raising the funds that support rescue animals
