Chair of Governors

Over is a small primary school sitting at the heart of a thriving village. We have a highly dedicated staff who are committed to providing our pupils with an excellent education. The Governing Body works closely with the Headteacher to ensure that, through the delivery of a rich and ambition curriculum and support for personal development, our school is full of happy confident people who are motivated to work hard to achieve their individual potential in a safe and creative environment. As a governor, your role is vital to the running of the school. As part of a team, you will be responsible for:

• developing the vision and strategic direction for the school
• overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
• holding the school to account to ensure that every pupil has the best possible education
• engaging with pupils, staff, parents and the school community to understand their views
To fulfil this role, you will need to:
• work closely with the Headteacher and Clerk to the Governing Body to ensure smooth operation of the Governing Body's responsibilities
• lead Full Governor Body Meetings six evening a year (once every half-term), each lasting approximately two hours
• attend termly committee meetings
• make termly visits into school to monitor school development
