Full Job Description

The Community Gangs Team (CGT) works in partnership to support those involved in gang violence, serious violence, robbery or those on the periphery of gangs by way of prevention, diversion and, where necessary, enforcement.

Built on trust, the CGT works with individuals and communities by treating violence as a preventable public health issue. It seeks to avert violence by diverting those who are at risk of becoming either a victim or perpetrator and supporting those already ensconced in gang crime to exit their lifestyle and, where necessary, enforcing against those who commit violent crimes and pose a risk to others.

By working with individuals, families and the wider community, the CGT identifies ways in which to reduce violence, improve futures and create a safer Hackney for everyone.

As the CGT Community Delivery Coordinator, you will lead, manage, and deliver the hyperlocalised community place-based projects and initiatives designed to proactively reduce crime, anti-social behaviour (ASB), robbery, gang and serious violence across Hackney.

The post holder will be responsible for end-to-end project delivery, ensuring successful delivery within agreed timescales and budgets, and driving multi-agency collaboration to empower the community and sustain long-term safety improvements.

Your projects and initiatives will support the work of the CGT and the wider Community Safety, Enforcement and Business Regulations service.

You will proactively seek intelligence identifying Hotspots and then problem-solving with a view to reducing Crime, ASB and serious gang and youth violence, and empowering the community.

You will be proactive in gaining the support of many and varied partner organisations and departments that can help with any given project, and manage and coordinate their input. You will build and maintain the professional working relationships you have established.

You will be briefing staff at the start of any project and preparing and presenting closing reports to senior managers, councillors and the Mayor at the conclusion of the projects.

You will attend all relevant meetings with a view to establishing and maintaining a good working knowledge of Crime, ASB and serious gang and youth violence in Hackney Borough., To proceed with your application, you will need to create an account and submit your application.

You will have experience and knowledge of proactively developing and delivering crime and ASB reduction projects, knowledge of gang reduction initiatives and issues impacted or caused by gang involvement. You will have an understanding of the prevalence and wider harm of gang violence and cross-borough issues.

You will have experience of working with gangs and serious youth violence, the youth justice system.

You will be familiar with a multi-agency / partnership approach to work, promoting integration and multidisciplinary working. You will take part in group workshops, panel meetings, intelligence and multi-agency meetings and more.

You must have a sound working knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and guidance, including the Crime and Disorder Act 1988, the Children Act 1989 & 2004, the Crime and Policing Act 2006 and 2017, Pan London Safeguarding guidance, information sharing legislation, the Data Protection Act and GDPR.

You will be required to make good and sound decisions based on legislation, experience and circumstances, taking into account proportionality and necessity.

Occasionally, you will be required to work some evenings and weekends to facilitate your projects. This flexibility best meets the demands of the project and its aims and objectives.
