Full Job Description
The Central Referrals Team is seeking an enthusiastic referrals officer to support the efficient running of our department in Wallington.This role is vital in ensuring the smooth and timely processing of referrals, as well as managing any queries arising from new referrals. You will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of data quality and ensuring that all referrals are processed promptly., The Central Referrals Office (CRO) is the central point for all NHS referrals coming into the Royal Marsden Trust. The office deals with both the processing of referrals and queries that arise from new referrals. It checks and processes referral data to ensure the referral information recorded is accurate and complete, and that this is of a high standard of data quality and processed in a timely manner to ensure compliance with government waiting times. The Central Referrals Office identifies any queries regarding eligibility for NHS Treatment and ensures adherence to the correct process for referrals received from other parts of the UK and countries with which we have a reciprocal agreement. It establishes and maintains professional relationships with medical secretaries, outpatients, medical staff, and other relevant departments to ensure the needs of the stakeholder are met., For further information please refer to the job description and personal specification To process all NHS Referrals including e-Referrals, internal and tertiary. Checking patient demographic information on the National Summary Care records tracing system Liaising with the relevant stakeholders e.g. GPs, external hospitals, medical secretaries to investigate any queries regarding referral information. To process all referrals received within 24 hours. To liaise with the triaging Consultant to ensure that all relevant patient medical information needed for a consultation is requested at receipt of referral. - Working Knowledge of various software packages including Microsoft office and data base programs
- Good Educational background including Maths and English GCSE's Experience Essential
- Confident in dealing with people at all levels within a range of disciplines.
- Ability to handle sensitive information and to understand the importance of confidentiality
- Self-Motivated to produce good quality and good attention to detail.
- Able to apply good judgment and common sense Desirable
- Working knowledge of working on the electronic referral system (e-RS)
- Familiar with Epic
- Previous experience of working in a hospital or health care customer focussed post Skills Abilities/knowledge Essential
