CDM and QHSE Manager

Nuclear Security Contract QHSE and CDM Manager

Are you an experienced and confident QHSE leader and CDM Manager with a passion for continuous improvement and risk management? Mitie is seeking a QHSE and CDM Manager to oversee the full spectrum of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment across our Nuclear Security Contract, supporting the transformational delivery of large-scale infrastructure programmes.

As the trusted partner to the QHSE Director and senior leadership teams across, you'll lead from the front to ensure safe, compliant, and high-performing operations. This is an opportunity to influence strategy, set standards, build relationships, and drive a culture of excellence across multiple disciplines and sites.

What You'll Be Doing:

-Lead and drive high-impact improvement plans and oversee compliance across, ensuring alignment with divisional and sector objectives

-Deliver root cause analysis on incidents and non-conformances and embed preventative solutions

-Shape and implement assurance programmes in partnership with the QHSE Director

-Support tender activities with expert QHSE input and policy development

-Leverage data and audit insights to build a proactive, performance-led safety culture

-Build trusted client relationships and champion safe delivery within operational leadership teams

-Lead the implementation, governance and continual improvement of CDM compliance arrangements across all applicable programmes and projects.

- Act as the senior competent lead for CDM matters, providing professional advice and assurance to project teams, clients and senior leaders.

-Ensure effective arrangements are established and maintained to achieve compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

-Assure that project teams understand and discharge their duties under CDM throughout the project lifecycle.

-Drive the integration of CDM principles into project planning, design reviews, construction execution and operational delivery.

-Promote effective collaboration between clients, Principal Designers, project teams and contractors to manage design and construction risks.

-Monitor emerging legislation, regulatory developments and industry best practice to ensure continual compliance and improvement.

-Assisting the Client in identifying, obtaining, and collating pre-construction information.

-Providing pre-construction information to designers, Principal Contractor, and contractors.

-Identifying, eliminating, or controlling foreseeable risks.

-Ensuring that designers comply with their duties and cooperate.

-Liaising with the Principal Contractor for the duration of their appointment.

-Preparing the Health and Safety File.

-Pre-Construction Information Pack (PCI) - identifies existing health and safety considerations for the project, that needs to be managed accordingly to ensure health and safety during the construction phase is not compromised.

-Collating all the existing information on the project through existing records or surveys to manage and mitigate risks during the construction phase, as well as future-proofing risks where possible.

-Design Risk Assessments / Registers - ensure that Designers are applying the correct methods to prevent unnecessary risks in the construction of the project and minimise residual risks to the end user.

-Support the Principal Contractor in their Construction Phase Plan to ensure it is relevant to the project but also identifies risk management of all highlighted considerations within the PCI, that they have been mitigated in accordance with existing legislation, ACOPs and best practices.

-Compiling required QHSE reports or investigations for the QHSE Director

-Supporting QHSE colleagues where appropriate and required., Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;

-Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may fail in service

-delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment; · Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received; · Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system

Chartered QHSE professional (CMIOSH)

-NEBOSH Diploma is required

-Experience in training delivery, Nuclear or electrical engineering environments

-Proven experience in senior multi-site leadership roles

-Strong working knowledge of CDM, civils, and infrastructure programmes

-Expertise in internal audits, ISO standards, and incident reporting systems

-Comfortable influencing at senior levels and managing cross-functional teams

-Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel and adapt as needed

-Role requires High level security clearance
